COMBAT HAPKIDO GROUND SURVIVAL

The Ground Survival program is not taught as a separate program. It is integrated into your core training.

The Combat Hapkido Ground Survival program was designed by Grand Master David Rivas. He designed an amazing program, that is not teaching our students to wrestle or grapple on the ground in a fight, but to escape, and recover, to a standing position.  In my personal experiences most fights end up on the ground at some point. You could have been blindsided and taken down, or maybe a situation turned in to a tussling or standing grappling position that ended up on the ground. Being on the ground in a fight is a very dangerous situation to be in.  For one you have the terrain to deal with; you may not have been in a nice grassy area when you were attacked. It can be a parking lot with glass and other sharp objects, or even gravel.  Also, while you are on the ground grappling it may be to late to realize that the attacker had a friend that is now kicking and striking you.
